Actor Vishnu Manchu is back in the spotlight with his latest film Kannappa, which is already showing strong box office performance. In just two days since its release, the film has earned ₹15 crore in India, making it one of the highest-grossing films in Vishnu’s career. This success has come as a surprise to many, considering his past few films didn’t do well.
Vishnu Manchu’s Kannappa Triumphs Despite Odds
At a recent press event in Hyderabad, Vishnu Manchu spoke honestly about his struggles. When asked why he chose a Hindi director Mukesh Kumar Singh for a film deeply rooted in Telugu culture, he revealed a harsh truth. “No Tollywood director wanted to work with me,” he said. He admitted that due to his past flops, many directors didn’t show interest in the project.

Still, Vishnu didn’t give up. He decided to give a chance to Mukesh Kumar Singh, who had directed the popular Mahabharat TV show. Though Kannappa is Singh’s first feature film, Vishnu said he saw great talent in him. “He is a hidden gem,” Vishnu said, explaining that he wanted to support new talent and bring fresh vision to the project.
Kannappa is based on the life of a legendary devotee of Lord Shiva, a story that is very popular in Telugu folklore. The film not only stars Vishnu Manchu but also features special appearances by big names like Mohanlal, Akshay Kumar, Prabhas, and Kajal Aggarwal.

The early box office numbers show that the film has struck a chord with the audience. Vishnu hopes this is the start of a new chapter in his career.
