Actor Rajkummar Rao has officially confirmed that he will play former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly in an upcoming biopic. After many months of rumours and guesses, the actor made it clear in a recent interview. He said that now that Sourav Ganguly himself has spoken about it, he too can confirm the news.
Rajkummar Rao to Play Sourav Ganguly in Biopic
Rajkummar shared that he is both nervous and excited about taking on such a big role. He called it a huge responsibility and said that playing Sourav Ganguly is going to be fun but also very challenging. To prepare for the role, Rajkummar has even learned Bengali, the language spoken by Ganguly. His wife, actress Patralekhaa, who is Bengali, helped him with the language. He also feels confident that he will be able to get the Bengali accent right for the movie.

Earlier this year, Sourav Ganguly had already hinted that Rajkummar Rao would play the lead role in his biopic. He said that he believed Rajkummar was the right person for the job and promised to help him in every way possible.
Sourav Ganguly, also known as “Dada,” played for the Indian cricket team from 1992 to 2008. He is considered one of India’s most successful cricket captains. The film will follow his life, career, and achievements on and off the field. According to Ganguly, the shooting will begin in January next year, and the movie is expected to release in December. He explained that while pre-production and writing took a lot of time, the actual filming will take around three months. Post-production will also take time to complete.

The film’s title and director have not been announced yet. However, fans are already excited to see Rajkummar Rao in the role of the cricket legend. The biopic is expected to inspire many and give a closer look at the journey of one of India’s most loved sports icons.
