In a recent interview, director Mansoor Khan shared unknown details about the challenges he faced while making the 1992 film Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. The film, which later became a cult classic, almost didn’t get made because of problems with the original cast. According to the filmmaker, model and actor Milind Soman was initially cast in the film, but things didn’t go well. Eventually, he was replaced by Deepak Tijori.

Mansoor Khan admitted that poor casting was one of his biggest mistakes. He said the actors chosen in the beginning were not professional and made things very difficult for him and the crew. They had already filmed for over 40 days in places like Ooty, Coonoor, and Mumbai, including some song sequences. But the results were disappointing. Mansoor felt hopeless and even thought of giving up on the project.

The situation became so tense that Aamir Khan, the film’s lead actor and Mansoor’s cousin, stepped in. Aamir clearly told him to remove the problematic cast and start over. Mansoor followed the advice and replaced several actors. This decision turned out to be the turning point for the film.

Mansoor also mentioned that some of the actors, including Milind Soman, tried to return later, but by then, the direction of the film had changed. He said these actors didn’t understand the process of filmmaking or the importance of teamwork. He accepted that the original casting decisions were his mistake and learned from the experience.

Eventually, with a new and committed cast, including Aamir Khan, Ayesha Jhulka, Deepak Tijori, Mamik Singh, and Pooja Bedi, the film went on to become a big success.
