Ravi Chhabriya has made his directorial debut with a comedy-mystery movie called Detective Sherdil. The film features well-known actors like Diljit Dosanjh, Boman Irani, Diana Penty, and Chunky Panday. It was released on ZEE5 on June 20 and has received mixed reactions from the audience. In a recent interview, Ravi shared his experience of making the film and how he felt during the process.

Ravi said he chose to make a detective film because he had grown up watching similar Indian mystery stories like Byomkesh Bakshi and Gupt. He wanted to bring a fresh and entertaining detective story to today’s audience. He worked with writer Ali to shape a script that felt both modern and exciting.

Talking about his feelings during the making of the film, Ravi admitted he did feel nervous. But he also felt excited and confident. He believed in his instincts and said that once the actors were prepared, the rest was about capturing the right moments on camera. He praised the teamwork that helped complete the film in less than 32 days.
Ravi especially praised actor Diljit Dosanjh. He described him as humble, kind, and fun to work with. He said Diljit never made him feel stressed and was always willing to collaborate. They developed a strong bond on set, which made the filmmaking process smoother and more enjoyable.
Some viewers compared Detective Sherdil to the Hollywood movie Knives Out. Ravi responded by saying that he had not taken inspiration from Knives Out, and the idea for his film came long before that movie was released. He said that every film is unique and that comparisons are natural, but his movie stands on its own.
