Madras High Court Sends Legal Notice to Nani, HIT 3 Team Over Plagiarism Allegations by Writer

The Madras High Court has sent a legal notice to actor Nani and the team of the film HIT: The Third Case. This happened after a scriptwriter named Vimalavelan, also known as Vimal, claimed that the film’s story was copied from a script he had written earlier. Vimal said that he had registered his story with the South Indian Film Writers’ Association on August 4, 2021. Later, on August 8, 2022, he had even sent the story’s summary to Nani, hoping to work with him. But he never got any reply.

According to Vimal, after HIT 3 was released, he went to watch it in theatres. To his shock, the film had many scenes and plotlines similar to his script. He also made a list of the similarities and sent it to the makers. He even sent them a legal notice asking them to stop using his work, but he received no reply. Now, Vimal has taken the matter to court.

He is asking for compensation for the damages. He has also demanded 20% of the film’s profit. He said that because of the copied story, he has suffered financial loss. He had also informed the writers’ association about the issue earlier, but no action was taken. The High Court has now given the film’s team time until July 7 to respond.
