Dacre Montgomery of Stranger Things Directs and Stars in New Film The Engagement Party

Dacre Montgomery, the well-known actor from Stranger Things and Elvis, is making his directorial debut with a new film titled The Engagement Party. This exciting project is generating a lot of buzz as it is set to be released later this year. In addition to directing, Montgomery will also star in the film, alongside talented actors such as Lily Sullivan (Evil Dead Rise), Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road), and Arlo Green (M3GAN).

Stranger Things Star Directs The Engagement

The film is described as a psychological drama that takes place on a beautiful, secluded island. Two couples gather at a stunning beach house to celebrate a special occasion. However, things take a turn when a conflicting memory arises, causing tension between the characters. As the story unfolds, the line between memory and manipulation becomes blurred, forcing the couples to confront a difficult question: What really happened on that fateful night?

The film is being produced by Nick Batzias and Virginia Whitwell for GoodThing Productions, with financing assistance from Indian Pacific Pictures. Montgomery himself has expressed his excitement about directing this project, calling it an honor. He believes the film delivers an important and timely message, exploring themes of trauma, love, friendship, and consent. Montgomery is looking forward to working with a team of collaborators to bring this story to life.

Metro International has already boarded the film for sales at the Cannes market, and Madman Entertainment has come on board as the distributor for Australia and New Zealand. With the Cannes market coming up, there is plenty of anticipation surrounding The Engagement Party.

Montgomery is also involved in several other upcoming projects, including Dead Man’s Wire directed by Gus Van Sant, in which he stars alongside Al Pacino and Bill Skarsgard. He is also part of Faces of Death, a film from Legendary Entertainment. Fans are eager to see what Montgomery will bring to both his directing and acting career in the near future.
