Sinners Dominates Box Office, Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and Accountant 2 Score Big

The weekend Sinners Dominates box office numbers have been exceptional, with several movies surpassing expectations and making a significant impact. Warner Bros.’ supernatural vampire film Sinners, directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Michael B. Jordan, continues to outperform expectations. Despite predictions of a modest $20-$25 million weekend, Sinners managed to hold the top spot at the box office, grossing an impressive $45.7 million. 

Sinners Dominates Box Office, Star Wars Re Release

The film’s second-weekend drop was minimal, only 5 percent, making it one of the smallest declines for any film opening with over $40 million, since Avatar in 2009. This has propelled the film’s domestic total to $123.2 million, with a global gross of $163.2 million. Sinners is becoming a big hit, and its success is due to a combination of great audience reviews and perfect scores.

Meanwhile, Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith was re-released in celebration of its 20th anniversary. The film brought in $25.2 million during its opening weekend, securing the second spot. Revenge of the Sith, part of the iconic Star Wars franchise, continues to be a crowd favorite. The prequels, which were once divisive, are now being appreciated by fans who grew up with them, and this re-release shows the enduring appeal of the franchise. The movie’s box office earnings include $17 million from overseas markets, bringing its total weekend haul to $42.2 million.

Another notable entry was The Accountant 2, starring Ben Affleck. The action-thriller earned an estimated $24.6 million and received strong reviews, especially from older audiences. The film has proven popular among those aged 50 and above, with 27 percent of ticket buyers coming from that demographic.

Also holding strong in the top five was A Minecraft Movie, which added $22.7 million to its total, pushing its global earnings to over $800 million. Other films like Until Dawn, a horror release from Sony, rounded out the top five with a solid start at $8 million.
