Ajith Kumar, a well-known Tamil actor, has been awarded the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian honor, by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu. The award was presented to him on April 28, 2025, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. Ajith, who is also a motorsport racer and team owner, has received significant recognition for his contributions to Indian cinema. He has been a part of the film industry for over three decades and has acted in more than 60 films, becoming one of the most prominent stars in Tamil cinema.

Ajith’s career began in 1990 with a small role in the movie En Veedu En Kanavar, but he made his lead debut in 1993 with Amaravathi. Over the years, he became known for his action-packed roles, particularly in films like Amarkalam, Dheena, Varalaaru, Billa, and Mankatha. His performances have earned him several awards, including three Tamil Nadu State Film Awards.
Ajith also has a diverse set of interests beyond acting. He is a state-level shooting champion and runs a successful motorsport team, Ajith Kumar Racing. In fact, his racing team recently secured second place at the prestigious Spa Francorchamps circuit in Belgium. This award is a testament not only to his acting skills but also to his multi-faceted talent and dedication.

In January 2025, Ajith had expressed his gratitude to the Indian government for the Padma Bhushan. Along with Ajith Kumar, other notable personalities from the world of cinema were honored with the Padma Bhushan, including actor-politician Nandamuri Balakrishna, veteran director Shekhar Kapur, and actors Anant Nag and Shobana Chandrakumar. Additionally, three-time Grammy Award-winning composer Ricky Kej received the Padma Shri.
