Shruti Haasan, a well-known Indian actress and singer, recently shared her experiences growing up in a family of film industry icons. She spoke about the challenges and lessons she learned, especially during the difficult time when her parents, Kamal Haasan and Sarika, went through a separation in 2004. Despite her family’s ties to the entertainment industry, Shruti explained that she never felt entitled to success or special treatment. Instead, she felt humbled by her experiences and the changes her family went through.
Shruti Haasan Talks Life Lessons After Separation
In an interview with Filmfare, Shruti recalled how her life changed after her parents’ separation. They moved from their comfortable life in Chennai to a smaller home in Mumbai, which was a significant shift for her. “We were not living in the big mansion, and when my mom decided to leave, we moved from Chennai to Mumbai. It wasn’t comfortable,” she said. Despite the struggles, Shruti found value in those years, explaining that she learned an important life lesson. “You can go from Mercedes to local train… like really quick in life,” she remarked, acknowledging how rapidly life can change and how both journeys are valuable for learning.

Shruti also talked about how she felt the need to carve out her own identity as she grew up. Even though she came from a family of famous actors, she wanted to stand on her own feet and achieve her own success. She admitted that she had an attitude when she started her career in films but clarified that it wasn’t from a place of arrogance. Instead, it was driven by fear and insecurity, as she was unsure about her place in the world.
Shruti Haasan’s parents were married from 1988 to 2004 and have two daughters, Shruti and Akshara Haasan. Despite their separation, Shruti has always been close to both of her parents and has learned to appreciate their support. She has also emphasized the importance of independence and not relying on others for validation.
