Anaya Bangar, the child of former Indian cricketer and coach Sanjay Bangar, has opened up about her journey of transformation after undergoing hormonal replacement therapy and gender reaffirming surgery. Previously known as Aryan, Anaya was an athlete who played age-group cricket, following in her father’s footsteps. However, her path to pursuing a cricket career became more difficult after the surgery. Anaya currently resides in the United Kingdom and has faced numerous challenges.
Anaya Bangar Reveals Nude Photos Incident
In a recent interview, Anaya Bangar shared some of her experiences in the cricket world. She spoke about the ‘toxic masculinity’ that exists in the sport. Anaya recalled her realization about her true gender identity when she was just eight or nine years old. She revealed how she would secretly wear her mother’s clothes, look in the mirror, and wish to be a girl.

As she grew older, Anaya played cricket with well-known players like Musheer Khan, Sarfaraz Khan, and Yashasvi Jaiswal. However, she had to keep her identity a secret because her father was a well-known figure in the cricket world. According to Anaya, cricket is often a world filled with insecurity and toxic masculinity.
After Anaya underwent gender-affirming surgery, she faced mixed reactions from fellow cricketers. Some supported her, while others harassed her. She recalled instances where cricketers sent inappropriate photos and verbally abused her. Anaya also mentioned a situation where a veteran cricketer made an inappropriate proposal to her. Despite the hardships, Anaya remained focused on her career.

Anaya, like her father, is a cricketer and has represented clubs such as Islam Gymkhana and the Hinckley Cricket Club in Leicestershire. However, her journey was further complicated when the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced in November 2023 that transgender athletes would not be allowed to participate in women’s cricket. Anaya expressed her disappointment over this decision, stating that it was a setback for inclusivity in sports.
