California Mother Faces Murder Charges After DUI Crash That Killed 4-Year-Old Daughter

In a heartbreaking case out of California, 26-year-old Juliet Marie Acosta is facing multiple serious charges—including murder—after a drunk driving incident led to the tragic death of her 4-year-old daughter.

The incident occurred when Acosta, allegedly intoxicated at nearly three times the legal blood alcohol limit, drove her vehicle into a canal. Shockingly, she managed to escape the vehicle and return home on foot, leaving her young daughter trapped inside the sinking car.

Authorities say the child was later pulled from the vehicle by her uncle and rushed to the hospital. Despite efforts to save her life, the girl passed away the following day due to her injuries.

Initial charges against Acosta included driving under the influence (DUI), but as the investigation progressed, additional charges such as murder, vehicular manslaughter, and child endangerment were added. Prosecutors argue that Acosta’s extreme level of intoxication and abandonment of her child display a gross disregard for human life.
