Abhishek Sharma made a remarkable comeback in the IPL 2025 season with a record-breaking knock of 141 runs off just 55 balls, leading SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) to a stunning victory over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their match on April 12, 2025. The match, held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, was an unforgettable moment for Abhishek, his team, and his family, especially his parents, who were present to witness his incredible performance.

The young left-handed opener had struggled early in the season, with just 51 runs from his first five matches. However, this match marked his return to form. After battling a fever in the days leading up to the game, Abhishek initially struggled to find his rhythm. But as the innings progressed, he quickly found his footing, and his intent to attack was clear. His knock included 10 sixes and 14 boundaries, making it one of the most memorable innings in IPL history. His score of 141 is now the third-highest individual score in IPL history, behind only Chris Gayle’s 175* and Brendon McCullum’s 158*.

Despite his stellar performance, Abhishek’s father, Raj Kumar Sharma, who had been a source of motivation throughout his career, wasn’t entirely satisfied. Raj Kumar, who has supported his son since his Under-14 days, was happy with the performance but reminded Abhishek that he needed to finish the game, something that was not achieved when Abhishek got out in the 17th over with SRH still needing 24 runs. However, by that time, Abhishek had already done most of the damage, and SRH managed to chase down the target of 246 in just 18.3 overs.

Abhishek Sharma expressed his joy at performing in front of his parents, saying it was special to have them in the stands, especially since his father had always been a guiding force in his cricket journey. Raj Kumar recalled the moments before the match, where he motivated his son not to worry about the lean patch and reassured him that such things happen to every cricketer. He was confident that Abhishek would do well and lead SRH to victory, and that’s exactly what happened.

Abhishek’s partnership with Travis Head was also instrumental in the victory, with the pair putting on a 171-run stand in just 12.2 overs. While Head’s contribution of 66 runs off 37 balls was important, it was Abhishek’s explosive knock that stole the show.
