Sunny Deol’s Jaat Competes With Ajith’s Good Bad Ugly in High-Stakes Box Office Clash Weekend

Sunny Deol

Sunny Deol’s latest movie Jaat has made a decent start at the box office, though it hasn’t matched the massive success of his earlier hit Gadar 2. On its opening day, Jaat earned ₹9.5 crore, followed by ₹7 crore on Day 2. This brings its total to ₹16.5 crore in just two days. However, the film saw a drop of almost 25% from its first day, which was expected because it was released in the middle of the week. The real challenge now lies in the weekend collections, as the film needs to pick up pace to maintain momentum.

Sunny Deol’s Jaat Faces Box Office Clash

Jaat has already become Sunny Deol’s second-best opener, doing better than some of his earlier releases like Yamla Pagla Deewana and Ghayal Once Again. Still, it’s far behind the record-breaking performance of Gadar 2, which had opened with ₹40 crore and ended its theatrical run with more than ₹525 crore.

The film is notable because it brings together talents from North and South India. Sunny Deol has teamed up with Telugu director Gopichand Malineni, who is making his Hindi debut. The film features a large and diverse cast, including Randeep Hooda, Saiyami Kher, Regina Cassandra, Vineet Kumar Singh, and Jagapathi Babu. This pan-India approach shows an effort to appeal to audiences across regions.

At the same time, Jaat is facing direct competition at the box office from another big release, Good Bad Ugly, starring South superstar Ajith. Interestingly, both films are produced by the same company — Mythri Movie Makers and People Media Factory. This is a rare situation where two high-budget films from the same production house are competing with each other on the same day.

According to industry experts, if Jaat can continue attracting viewers in smaller towns, it may earn around ₹40 crore over its extended four-day weekend. While it is doing well in single-screen theaters and rural areas, its performance in multiplexes is not very strong. With a production cost of around ₹100 crore, the film still has a long way to go before it can be called a hit.

However, there is a silver lining. Netflix has already bought the digital streaming rights for the film. This will help the producers recover some of the investment even if the theatrical earnings fall short.

Even if Jaat does not repeat the magic of Gadar 2, it is still an important film in Sunny Deol’s career. It shows his shift towards more modern, large-scale films and reflects a growing trend of collaborations between Bollywood and South Indian cinema. The coming days will be critical in deciding how successful Jaat will be.
