Renowned Bollywood film producer Salim Akhtar passed away on April 8, 2025, in Mumbai. He was 82 years old and died at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. Salim Akhtar was a respected name in the Indian film industry and had a long career in filmmaking. He is especially remembered for introducing popular actresses like Rani Mukerji and Tamannaah Bhatia to Bollywood.
Veteran Producer Salim Akhtar Passes Away
Salim Akhtar played a major role in launching Rani Mukerji’s career through the 1996 film Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat. He also introduced Tamannaah Bhatia to Hindi cinema. His contribution to Bollywood includes many hit films across different decades. Some of his well-known productions include Phool Aur Angaare, Qayamat, Loha, and Batwara. These movies were popular among audiences in the 1980s and 1990s.

He also produced Badal, a film released in 2000 that starred Bobby Deol and Rani Mukerji. Another one of his movies, Phool Aur Angaar, featured Mithun Chakraborty and was quite successful. His other projects included films like Choron Ki Baraat, Baazi with Aamir Khan, and many more.
