The much-awaited Malayalam film L2: Empuraan, starring Mohanlal and directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, is now set for release on March 27, 2025. The movie, which is the sequel to Lucifer (2019), had been facing delays due to internal disagreements between its co-producers, Aashirvad Cinemas and Lyca Productions. However, the issue has now been resolved with the entry of Sree Gokulam Movies as a new production partner.
Mohanlal’s Empuraan Release Date Confirmed
For a while, there were speculations that the slow progress of Empuraan’s promotions was due to financial conflicts between the two original production houses. This raised concerns among fans that the film might not be released as planned. But now, with the involvement of Gokulam Gopalan from Sree Gokulam Movies, all doubts have been cleared. Gopalan played a key role in settling the disputes and ensuring that the project moved forward without further trouble.

According to reports, Lyca Productions, which has been struggling financially after some of its recent films underperformed at the box office, has almost entirely exited the project. This shift in production responsibility has allowed the filmmakers to push ahead with promotions and final preparations for the film’s release.
To generate excitement, the makers have announced that Empuraan’s first-day first-show (FDFS) will begin at 6 AM on March 27, 2025. Additionally, to build up anticipation, the original Lucifer film will be re-released in theatres on March 20.
Apart from Mohanlal, Empuraan features a star-studded cast, including Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, and many others. The film promises to be a grand spectacle with intense action, political drama, and a gripping storyline.
