HBO Confirms New Game of Thrones Spin-Off Series Exploring Targaryen History and Legacy

HBO has confirmed that another Game of Thrones spin-off is in development. Following the success of House of the Dragon, the network is exploring more stories from George R.R. Martin’s universe.

New Game of Thrones Spin-Off

One of the upcoming series is A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, set to release in late 2025. It is based on Martin’s novella The Hedge Knight and will star Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan “Dunk” the Tall. The show will follow the adventures of Dunk and Egg, two important characters in Westeros’ history.

Francesca Orsi, HBO’s Head of Drama Series and Films, recently revealed that another Game of Thrones spin-off is in the early stages. She mentioned that the new project is “very promising” and will also focus on the Targaryen family. However, she did not provide further details.

George R.R. Martin has been critical of some changes made in House of the Dragon, saying they weakened the story. However, he has praised A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, stating that he has watched all six episodes and loved them. He is excited for fans to see the characters brought to life.
