The trade involved the Kings, Bulls, and San Antonio Spurs. As part of the deal, De’Aaron Fox and Jordan McLaughlin moved to the Spurs, while LaVine, Sidy Cissoko, three first-round picks, and three second-round picks went to the Kings. LaVine had been involved in trade rumors for a long time, but his high salary made it difficult for teams to acquire him until now.

LaVine signed a five-year contract worth over $215 million in July 2022, with an annual salary of around $43 million. This season, he is earning over $43 million, making up more than 30% of the Kings’ payroll. His salary will increase to nearly $46 million next year, and he has a player option worth almost $49 million for the 2026-27 season. If he chooses to stay for that final year, he will become an unrestricted free agent after the 2026-27 season. Currently, LaVine is one of the highest-paid players in the NBA, tied in salary with stars like Trae Young and Luka Dončić.
Over the years, LaVine has built a successful career, earning over $206 million from his NBA contracts alone. His net worth is estimated at around $70 million. Apart from his earnings from basketball, he has endorsement deals with brands like Adidas, JBL Audio, CarMax, Mountain Dew, and others. His deal with Adidas alone was reported to be worth up to $35 million.
Despite his individual success, LaVine has only made the playoffs once in his career during the 2021-22 season when the Bulls were eliminated in the first round by the Milwaukee Bucks. Now, he hopes to help the Kings, who have a 24-24 record, reach the playoffs and compete at a higher level.
LaVine is known for his explosive athleticism and scoring ability. He has won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest twice and is a two-time All-Star. This season, he has been performing well, averaging 24 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game while shooting efficiently from the field. Throughout his career, he has consistently been a strong offensive player, known for his three-point shooting and ability to create shots.
Now, with the Kings, LaVine has a fresh opportunity to prove himself on a new team. Fans will be watching closely to see how he fits into the Kings’ lineup and whether he can help them make a deep playoff run.
