Saif Ali Khan Attack: Accused Updates

The suspect, a Bangladeshi national, was arrested in Thane on January 19, 2025, as he tried to flee to Bangladesh. Mumbai police are now conducting a facial recognition test (FRT) to confirm the identity of the attacker. This test will compare the suspect’s face with images captured from CCTV footage. The footage shows a person climbing between the 6th and 11th floors of Saif’s building in the early morning hours.

Evidence collected by police includes blood samples and stained clothing from both Saif and the accused. They also recovered items from the intruder’s phone, including his Bangladeshi ID cards and records of money transfers.

The authorities informed the Bandra court that the accused was uncooperative during questioning. As a result, the court extended his custody for five more days to complete further investigations, including the facial recognition test.

Meanwhile, the father of the accused, Mr. Ruhul, has asked for help from the Bangladeshi foreign ministry. He has also sought assistance from the Indian High Commission in Dhaka for his son’s release. Mr. Ruhul claimed he learned of his son’s arrest from social media and news, as no one from the authorities contacted him directly.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to confirm whether Shariful Fakir was involved in the attack on Saif Ali Khan. More updates will follow as the case progresses.
