Josh Brolin’s Oscar Ultimatum
Brolin, who plays Gurney Halleck in the Dune series, praised Villeneuve’s work, calling it “masterful” and describing the experience of watching the film as “brain-breaking.” He strongly believes the director deserves recognition for his exceptional talent.
“If Denis isn’t nominated this year, I’ll quit acting,” Josh Brolin said in an interview. He also called Villeneuve “one of our master filmmakers” and expressed hope that the Academy will finally acknowledge his brilliance.
The first Dune movie, released in 2021, was a massive success. It won six Oscars, including Best Cinematography and Best Visual Effects, but Villeneuve was surprisingly left out of the Best Director category.
According to Josh Brolin, Dune: Part Two is even better than the first film. It continues the story of Paul Atreides, played by Timothée Chalamet, as he fights to reclaim his family’s honor. The movie is expected to be a top contender at the upcoming Academy Awards.
Meanwhile, Denis Villeneuve has already started planning Dune 3. He revealed that the third installment will be set 12 years after the events of Dune: Part Two and will introduce new storylines within the same universe.
The Dune franchise is also expanding with a prequel series called Dune: Prophecy. The show, now streaming on Max, explores the origins of the Bene Gesserit, a powerful group in the Dune universe.
Fans eagerly await the release of Dune: Part Two, hoping that Villeneuve will finally receive the recognition he deserves. The film is set to release in 2024, and expectations are sky-high.
