The new Harry Potter TV series is in development with HBO and Max, and J.K. Rowling, the author of the books, is heavily involved as an executive producer. Recently, HBO CEO Casey Bloys confirmed that the series has not been impacted by Rowling’s controversial views on transgender issues, which have sparked backlash over the years.
J.K. Rowling’s Views Won’t Affect Series
Rowling has been criticized for her anti-transgender comments, but Bloys assured fans that her views have not affected the casting, hiring of writers, or production of the show. According to Bloys, Rowling has been part of the team when it comes to selecting writers and directors for the series, but it has not created any disruption.
While some actors from the original Harry Potter films, like Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, have publicly disagreed with Rowling’s views, others, such as Helena Bonham Carter and Ralph Fiennes, have supported her. Despite the controversy, Warner Bros. decided to move forward with Rowling’s involvement in the series.
