Bishnoi Community Burns Effigies of Salman Khan Over Poaching Comments Amid Death Threats

On October 26, 2024, members of the Bishnoi community in Jaipur protested by burning effigies of Bollywood actor Salman Khan and his father, Salim Khan. This protest was in response to Salim Khan’s comments about the 1998 blackbuck poaching case, which upset the community, which considers the blackbuck a sacred animal.

Bishnoi Community Protests Salman Khan

The Bishnoi community firmly believes in protecting wildlife, particularly the blackbuck. During the protest, community leaders expressed anger at Salim Khan’s statements, claiming they were misleading. They stressed that they do not defame anyone without reason and highlighted the pain caused by his comments.

In a recent interview, Salim Khan defended his son, saying Salman is innocent and would never harm an animal. However, the Bishnoi community remains firm in demanding accountability. They emphasized their commitment to seeking justice in the blackbuck case, which has been a significant issue for them for many years.

The protest also follows recent death threats against Salman and Salim Khan from gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Lawrence has publicly stated his animosity towards Salman due to the poaching case and has insisted that Salman seek forgiveness from the Bishnoi community.

In light of these threats, Mumbai Police have increased security for Salman Khan, especially after reports of shooters from Lawrence’s gang firing shots near Salman’s home earlier this year. The ongoing conflict between Salman Khan and Lawrence Bishnoi has raised serious concerns among the public and the police regarding safety.

As this situation develops, the Bishnoi community continues to stand strong in their beliefs and demands for justice regarding the blackbuck poaching case.
