Zayn Malik has postponed the U.S. leg of his “Stairway to the Sky” tour following the tragic death of his former One Direction bandmate, Liam Payne. Payne, who was 31, passed away on October 16, 2024, in Argentina after allegedly jumping from a hotel balcony.
Zayn Malik Postpones U.S. Tour
Zayn, who had planned to start his U.S. tour in a week with a concert in San Francisco, decided to delay the dates. He shared on social media that he “lost a brother” and needed time to mourn. The tour was set to include major cities like Las Vegas, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, and New York.

In a heartfelt tribute to Payne, Zayn expressed how much he cherished their time together during their One Direction days. He regretted not having the chance to say a proper goodbye to someone he deeply loved and respected.
Both Zayn Malik and Liam Payne gained fame as part of One Direction, a boyband formed on The X Factor in 2010, alongside Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan. Malik left the group in 2015 to pursue a solo career, and the band eventually disbanded in 2016.
Liam Payne is survived by his family, including his young son, Bear, whom he had with singer Cheryl.
