Thousands of Indian Students Wait for Jobs in Canada Amid Economic Concerns and Challenges

A viral video has sparked concern as it shows thousands of Indian students lined up outside Tandoori Flame restaurant in Brampton, Canada. The footage, which has been widely shared on social media, shows around 3,000 students waiting to be interviewed for waiter and server positions.

Indian Students Seek Jobs in Canada

The video has started a discussion about the job opportunities for international students, especially those who come to Canada for studies and work. The clip was shared on X by a user named Megh Updates, with the caption highlighting the situation: “Scary scenes from Canada as 3,000 students (mostly Indian) line up for waiter and servant jobs after an advertisement by a new restaurant opening in Brampton. Massive unemployment in Trudeau’s Canada? Students leaving India for Canada with rosy dreams need serious introspection!”

While NDTV could not confirm if the video is authentic, it has led to many comments online. Some people expressed worries about the timing of moving abroad due to economic uncertainty. One commenter mentioned, “People need to understand that with a recession looming overhead, this is not the right time to move abroad.”

On the other hand, some users defended the students, saying that working part-time in restaurants is common for international students. One person stated, “To be honest, if they are students and still studying, working in a restaurant is probably a part-time job to support themselves. That should not be called unemployment.” Another user added, “This looks like a part-time job. That is a culture in the West where students take such jobs.”

Supporters of the students also pointed out the challenges they face when moving to a new country. They emphasized that, despite the difficulties, many students eventually succeed and lead fulfilling lives compared to their lives back home.
