Rachel Sennot, a rising star in Hollywood, is all set to appear in the upcoming Saturday Night Live (SNL) movie, playing the role of Rosie Shuster. Rachel Sennot Discusses SNL
Rosie Shuster was one of the original writers for SNL when it first aired in 1975. She was known for her contributions to some of the earliest sketches that helped define the show’s unique style of comedy. Shuster was also married to SNL’s creator and producer, Lorne Michaels, during that time. Despite working behind the scenes, her influence on the show’s success was significant.

In a recent interview, Rachel Sennot spoke about how she prepared for the role and what it was like to step into Shuster’s shoes. She mentioned that she got the chance to speak with Rosie Shuster over the phone to understand her better. Sennot described Shuster as “cool, smart, and funny” and expressed her excitement to meet her in person for the first time at the movie’s premiere.
When asked about the experience, Sennot admitted that there was some pressure, especially since Shuster is such a significant figure in SNL’s history. However, she also felt excited and honored to share Rosie’s story with a wider audience. The actress hopes that Shuster feels well-represented by her performance in the film.
Sennot revealed that playing this role felt different from her past experiences. Known for portraying anxious or intense characters, she said that this was the first time she got to play a “chill” role. “I’m never chill,” Sennot jokes, “In real life, I’m always having a panic attack. But it was so freeing to play someone confident and in control.”
Rosie Shuster’s story is not widely known, even among SNL fans. As a writer, she was responsible for some of the show’s most popular early sketches. Sennot feels that it is important to highlight Shuster’s contributions and show people the impact she had on shaping SNL’s success.
“I want everyone to know about her,” Sennot said. “She played a huge role in making SNL what it is today.”
