Rebel Wilson Countersues Producers for Theft, Bullying, and Sexual Misconduct in The Deb

Rebel Wilson, the actress and director, is involved in a legal battle with the producers of her movie, The Deb. She is counter suing Amanda Ghost, Cameron Gregor, and Vince Holden, accusing them of theft, bullying, and sexual misconduct. This countersuit comes after the producers sued Wilson for defamation, claiming she lied about them to promote her film at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival.

Rebel Wilson Sues The Deb Producers

In July, the producers filed a lawsuit against Wilson after she accused them of sexual harassment and embezzlement in an Instagram video. They claimed that her allegations were false and aimed at gaining credit for her work in The Deb.

Wilson’s countersuit includes serious claims. She alleges that Amanda Ghost sexually harassed the film’s lead actress, Charlotte MacInnes. According to Wilson, Ghost forced MacInnes to stay at her apartment and made inappropriate sexual comments during filming.

Charlotte MacInnes has denied these allegations, stating that they are untrue and that making false accusations can harm real victims.

Wilson also claims that Ghost, Gregor, and Holden tried to inflate the movie’s budget and pocket the extra money. She alleges that they embezzled around AU $900,000 from the film’s funds. When Wilson reported these issues to Danny Cohen, the executive producer, she says he ignored her complaints. This allegedly led to the producers retaliating against her.

Wilson claims that the producers used intimidation tactics, which made her feel unsafe while filming. She had to hire personal security to ensure her safety on the set. Additionally, she alleges that Gregor threatened to shut down the project and fire the entire cast and crew unless she retracted her complaints about Ghost’s behavior.

Wilson’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, spoke out about the situation. He said the producers are trying to manipulate the story by filing a lawsuit against Wilson. He warned that their misconduct is just starting to come to light, and more shocking details will emerge.
