Hanif Kureshi, a visionary artist and co-founder of St+art India, passed away on Sunday at the age of 41 after battling cancer. Kureshi played a key role in transforming public spaces in India, especially in cities like Mumbai, by making art accessible to everyone. His work, which brought life and color to urban areas, helped shape the country’s street art culture.

Kureshi believed that art should not be confined to galleries. Under his guidance, St+art India organized over 300 artists to create 330 murals in eight different cities. These murals gave a voice to the streets and allowed people to interact with art in their daily lives.
