Sonakshi Sinha, recently married to Zaheer Iqbal, has opened up about her parents’ reactions to her love marriage. Despite rumors suggesting that the Sinha family was unhappy with the union, Sonakshi clarified their positive responses.
Sonakshi Sinha Discusses Father’s Support
In a recent interview, Sonakshi shared that her father, Shatrughan Sinha, was supportive of her decision. She recounted his reaction, saying, “My dad was very happy. He said, ‘Jab miyan biwi raazi toh kya karega kaazi’ (If the couple is ready to get married, then who can stop?).” She also mentioned that Shatrughan is quite fond of Zaheer, having met him several times before.

Sonakshi noted an interesting coincidence: her father’s and Zaheer’s birthdays are close, with Shatrughan’s on December 9 and Zaheer’s on December 10.
Her mother, Poonam Sinha, was also supportive. Sonakshi revealed that her mother was the first person she told about Zaheer and that Poonam and Shatrughan had a love marriage themselves. “They know how it will go,” Sonakshi added.
Sonakshi and Zaheer had been together for seven years before tying the knot. They had a civil wedding on June 23 in Mumbai, followed by a reception with many film industry stars.
On the work front, Sonakshi recently impressed audiences in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Heeramandi” and was last seen in “Kakuda.” She is currently enjoying her married life and preparing for her next project.
