The airport authorities in Moscow stated that the crew of the aircraft requested an emergency landing due to technical issues. The airport quickly responded to the request, preparing to receive the plane under emergency procedures. The crew received full support and assistance in line with international regulations.
This incident marks the third time this year that an Air India flight has had to make an emergency landing due to technical problems. In July, another Air India flight traveling from Delhi to San Francisco made an emergency landing in Siberia after the cockpit crew detected a potential issue in the cargo hold.
In a separate incident, India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has launched an investigation after a metal part, suspected to be from an Air India Express aircraft, was found outside Delhi airport. The part was found after an Air India Express flight, bound for Bahrain, made a precautionary landing due to engine problems.
An Air India Express spokesperson confirmed that flight IX 145 experienced an engine issue shortly after takeoff from Delhi on September 2. The plane landed safely in Delhi, and the incident was reported to the aviation regulator and other relevant agencies. The investigation is ongoing to determine whether the metal part found is from the Air India Express aircraft.
