In a recent development at Radha Soami Satsang Beas (RSSB), Gurinder Singh Dhillon, the current spiritual head known as ‘Sant Satguru’, shared the stage with his appointed successor, Jasdeep Singh Gill, just a day after a clarification regarding the leadership change.

Jasdeep Singh Gill, a 45-year-old distant relative of Dhillon, was named the new patron of the RSSB societies, effective from September 2, as part of the organization’s succession plan. On the RSSB’s official website, Gill’s name was updated with the title ‘Huzur’, and a photograph of him with Dhillon was also posted.

The announcement caused confusion among the followers, who started gathering at the main center of RSSB, located 45 km from Amritsar, on the evening of the announcement. To manage the situation, the dera set up two chairs on stage for the first time. Gill’s chair was placed a few steps behind Dhillon’s, symbolizing both his new role and Dhillon’s continued leadership.
The event, attended by over one lakh followers from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh, featured a satsang (spiritual discourse). The followers were emotional when the curtains were raised, revealing both Dhillon and Gill on the stage. Dhillon, who remains in good health, did not address the crowd but used hand gestures to convey his message and encouraged the followers to accept Gill as his successor.
An earlier communication from Dhillon had expressed gratitude for the love and support of the followers and requested the same support for Jasdeep Singh Gill. However, some followers were initially upset about the announcement, fearing Dhillon’s exit. Later, the RSSB issued a clarification stating that Dhillon would continue to serve as ‘Sant Satguru’ for the time being.
Devender Kumar Sikri, the secretary of the RSSB, clarified that Gill would eventually take on the role of ‘Sant Satguru’ and gain the authority to bestow ‘Naam Daan’ (spiritual initiation). Until then, he will be present alongside Dhillon at all scheduled satsangs.
