Telegram CEO Pavel Durov has been released from police custody in France and is now facing further questioning in court. This follows his arrest at a Paris airport a few days ago.

Durov Faces Investigation in France
The Paris prosecutor’s office now has the task of providing Durov with “preliminary interrogation and possible bringing to court. This means in France being under investigation does not mean one is guilty or that one is bound to have a trial. It just means that the authorities have gathered enough information within their acquaintance in order to proceed to the subsequent stages.
Durov was detained for up to 96 hours, which is the permissible stake in France, till a suspect is charged. He was arrested on August 24 as his application Telegram was involved in some prohibited activities such as drug dealing and sharing and distribution of child sexual abuse materials.
Durov stands accused of a range of severe crimes including being involved in the management of an on-line site for unlawful purposes, failure to observe the requirements of the law enforcing agencies and being involved in pedophilia. They also have him charged with various offenses attributed to narcotic drugs and other activities of a criminal organization, supply of equipment for cyber terrorism, armed robbery and money laundering.
Telegram has argued that it complies with EU regulations and that the moderation policies used are at par with industry norms and in a constant state of development. The company mentioned that “Telegram CEO Pavel Durov has nothing to hide, and he regularly travels in Europe. Therefore, it is inadmissible to accuse a platform or its owner of the misuse of the said platform.
The Previous investigation will be carried out and the court will determine the further measures depending upon the findings made. The climax will therefore be determined by what is discovered in the case before the court.
