Michael Keaton Nervousness

In an interview with Collider, Michael Keaton admitted that he was apprehensive about returning to the Beetlejuice character. He explained that the filmmaking process for the sequel was unfamiliar, and he was unsure about how things would unfold. Keaton mentioned that he was concerned about maintaining the energy and focus required for the role, especially after so many years.

The Filming Process

Michael Keaton revealed that the film was shot in a historic studio in Culver City. This setting, with its rich history, added to his uncertainty about the filming process. He was unsure how the new production would compare to the original.

To tackle his nervousness, Keaton decided to stick closely to what worked in the original film. He approached the role by trying to replicate the same energy and style he had in the first movie. Tim Burton, who directed both the original and the sequel, was clear about the vision for the film, which helped Keaton feel more comfortable.

Script and Production Insights

Keaton also discussed the script for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. He noted that, unlike most scripts which are often finalized only after much revision, this one felt solid from the start. He was pleased with how the story and tone were developed, and he appreciated that Burton had a strong vision for the film.

The Cast and Release Date

In addition to Keaton, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice features a talented cast including Jenna Ortega, Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Justin Theroux, and Willem Dafoe. The movie is set to hit theaters on September 6, 2024.
