Chris Evans, well-known for his role as Captain America, and his wife Alba Baptista, have been thinking about expanding their family. However, instead of welcoming a child, they are considering adding another pet dog to their household. The couple, already proud pet parents to their beloved dog Dodger, are split on whether to bring home a new puppy or adopt an older dog in need of a loving home.
A Heartfelt Dilemma: Puppy or Senior Dog?
As for the characters, Chris and Alba – the authors of the show – are tender-hearted people who like animals and, especially, the ones in distress. They are very much concerned with the fortunes and misfortunes of old dogs adopting to families as compared to the dark years they spend in shelters. In the People magazine interview that Chris opened about the topic, they expressed their opinions.
He said that as much as he and Alba would love to get another pet, they feel that they still need more time before they can adequately handle the responsibility. It light-heartedly pointed out that the moment they have made up their minds to go to a shelter, the probability of them going home without bringing something home is next to impossible.
‘‘We both need a little bit of doing that,’’ Evans added. ‘We’ve always said, ‘Well, maybe we’ll just go down to the shelter,’ and I’m like, ‘Listen, do you really think we’re going to walk down there and not leave with at least one dog?’ There’s no way.’ If you make the decision to actually walk in the door, you’re walking out with one.”

Yet, despite all the affection toward dogs and the desire to give a new home to a senior dog, the couple has not discussed the idea of adoption in detail yet. Chris agreed and told their employer that some time will be required to get ready for parenting since they wanted to adopt another pet.
Chris Evans’ Commitment to Canine Welfare
Apart from the interest in dogs personally, the actor has also been quite involved in charitable causes that involve dogs. From the year 2O22, he collaborated with Jinx which is a brand of the premium dog food and care products for the pet animals that focus on delivering a balanced special nutritional diet. Jinx Management earlier this week declared that from the 1st of August, they would pledge one percent of their sales at Walmart towards the USO and Canine Program. It should be noted that this program provides assistance to the active military personnel and their service canines only.
Evans’ involvement with Jinx was inspired by Dodger’s love for their products. He emphasized that good nutrition should be accessible to all pet owners, not just those who can afford it. “At the end of the day, Dodger is the real temperature check for me. He loves it, and that’s all I needed to be a part of this,” Evans said.
Dodger’s Role in the Decision
Dodger, who recently turned ten years old, continues to bring joy and amusement to Chris and Alba. Evans shared that while Dodger enjoys being around other dogs, he isn’t sure how Dodger would feel about sharing their home full-time, especially when it comes to bedtime. “I wish I knew if it’s what he wanted. I wish I could just ask him because he loves being around dogs. But when it’s bedtime, if there’s another dog coming in the room, he might be like, ‘Hold on.’ So I don’t know,” Evans reflected.
A Marvelous Comeback
In addition to his personal life, Chris Evans has also been making headlines professionally. He recently reprised his role as Johnny Storm, also known as the Human Torch, in Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine movie, marking his return to the character after 17 years. Evans described the experience as unforgettable and expressed his gratitude to the cast and director, particularly thanking Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and Shawn Levy for making his return possible.
He shared his excitement on Instagram, calling the opportunity a dream come true and mentioning that Johnny Storm will always hold a special place in his heart.
