Kesha Performs With Real Butcher Knife at Lollapalooza 2024: A Shocking On-Stage Mishap

Kesha, the renowned pop star known for her bold performances and catchy hits, experienced a shocking mishap during her performance at Lollapalooza 2024. The singer, who is 37 years old, revealed on social media that she unknowingly performed with a real butcher knife instead of the intended prop during her set on Thursday, August 1.

The Startling Revelation

While it is unclear if part of this was scripted in some way, after the show, Kesha went on X (previously known as Twitter) to tell her fans about the rather shocking experience she had on the show. She said that the prop knife, which was to be used, was lost and in place of it, a real butcher knife was used. The replacement, she said, was procured from a kitchen, and she did not know that it was not a prop until after the dance.

They apparently replaced the prop knife with an actual butcher knife picked from the kitchen, and I had no clue until this show, Kesha twitter.

This revelation was quite shocking not just for Kesha but her audiences as well where during her performance of Backstabber the singer was seen twirling the knife. The singer acted in such a way that she was miming stabbing the air, at some point she even pointed the blade to the audience, not knowing the risks she invited.

A Performance to Remember

I attended Kesha’s Lollapalooza show and she was one of the highlights of the concert as she was lively and passionate during her performance. She performed wearing a provocative look of a skirt made from the look of the Birkin bag, fish-net stockings pulled up to her belly, with her white breast exposed and her belly marked with the inscription, ‘LOL’ in her white singlet.

The tank top as many of the fans suggested was a subliminal jab at fellow pop singer Katy Perry made the act even more dramatic. The choice of the dress that Kesha wore during the performance looked appropriate, certainly in view of the fact that she unknowingly used a real knife while singing.

Kesha’s choice of songs also contributed to the intensity of her performance. In addition to Backstabber, she performed some of her biggest hits, including TikTok, Die Young, Cannibal, and Take It Off. She also showcased her musical talents by playing the guitar live during her rendition of Your Love Is My Drug. The performance was well-received by the crowd, who cheered as she belted out her hits.

New Music and Independence

Kesha’s Lollapalooza performance wasn’t just about her past hits; she also treated the audience to her new single, Joyride. Released on July 4, Joyride has quickly become a fan favorite, especially on TikTok. The song is significant as it marks Kesha’s first release as an independent artist after leaving Dr. Luke’s Kemosabe Records in December.

This newfound independence seems to have given Kesha a renewed sense of freedom and creativity, which was evident in her electrifying performance.

Speaking Out and Making a Statement

In addition to her music, Kesha used her time on stage to make a political statement. According to fan-captured videos that went viral on social media, she called out JD Vance, former President Donald Trump’s running mate, for his controversial “childless cat ladies” comment. This moment added another layer to Kesha’s performance, showcasing her willingness to speak out on issues that matter to her.

A Star-Studded Event

Kesha’s performance was just one of many highlights from Lollapalooza 2024. The music festival, held at Chicago’s Grant Park, features a stellar lineup of artists, including Megan Thee Stallion, Hozier, and Chappell Roan, who performed on the same day as Kesha. The festival is set to continue until Sunday, August 4, with performances from other big names like SZA, Blink-182, The Killers, and Melanie Martinez.
