Speaking in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Madhuri Dixit revealed how much the film Hum Aapke Hain Koun will always be important to her. The movie was successful and the character created in this movie seemed to be a family member from the perception of the audience. She had different roles in the series as a daughter-in-law, daughter, girlfriend, and wife, which appealed to the people. This acceptance indeed helped in promoting all the actors associated with it, and Salman Khan was no exception to this.
Madhuri said, “With the kind of character that was given to me, I indeed became almost like one of the family members. It sometimes felt like they accepted me as just a bahu, beti, girlfriend, and wife and so, they accepted me in very different ways. That is the impact of whatever Hum Aapke Hain Koun did to everybody’s career at that time whether it was Salman or me or even all the actors. ”
Timeless Appeal
She also revealed that people continue to stream the film on OTT and other forms of media. Speaking of the film Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Madhuri drew attention to the fact that it deals with such cultural values and feelings and for this reason, the movie is unique and has an impact.
Madhuri was able to substantiate the fact that the film had a direct impact on Indian weddings and as a result of the movie, people started having more protracted ceremonies that can span for many days. This shift affected the way marriage celebrations were done in the country.
A Family Celebration
Madhuri Dixit remembered that the present scene at that time was different and people used to watch the movie Didi Tera Devar Deewana, the theaters used to glow during the screening of the film, and the families used to come in large numbers at times up to 14 members to watch the movie and it was considered more of a family outing.

Hum Aapke Hain Koun featured a stellar cast, including Renuka Shahane, Mohnish Bahl, Reema Lagoo, Anupam Kher, Alok Nath, Laxmikant Berde, and Satish Shah. The film ran for 100 weeks in several theaters across India and earned approximately Rs. 2–2.5 billion globally.
Released on August 5, 1994, it was the top-grossing film of the year and became the highest-grossing Indian film of its time. Hum Aapke Hain Koun played a significant role in shifting Indian cinema from violent themes to more gentle storytelling.
