Janhvi Kapoor recently shared some heartfelt memories about her late mother, Sridevi, and how her father, Boney Kapoor, supported their family. In a recent interview with Hauterrfly, Janhvi opened up about her mother’s difficulty in accepting that her daughters were growing up and how her father played a key role in encouraging Sridevi to return to her career.
Sridevi’s Difficulty Accepting Her Daughters’ Growth
Janhvi Kapoor revealed that Sridevi found it hard to accept that her daughters, Janhvi and Khushi, were growing up. According to Janhvi, Sridevi did not believe they needed to wear bras, thinking they were still too young for them. When Janhvi was first introduced to the idea of wearing a bra, it was not her mother who did it. Instead, Janhvi mentioned that she had to insist to her mother, saying, “I think I need it mom. Like, I really think I do.” This showed how Sridevi was in denial about her daughters growing up and was reluctant to accept these changes.

Sridevi’s Career Sacrifice and Boney Kapoor’s Encouragement
Janhvi Kapoor also discusses how her mother gave up her career when Janhvi was born. Sridevi for some reason quit the acting field so that she can properly take care of her children. But unlike Boney Kapoor, Janhvi’s father and Sridevi’s husband, who as their kids grew older urged her to resume work.
Janhvi said, There was no bitterness on her part, she gave up her career when she had me, she didn’t want to work on her own because she thought that I worked for so many years, In fact papa was the one who said kids have grown up now, and you get so much of happiness from work, I’ll take care of them I ‘ll stay with them during school, I ‘ll schedule summer vacation.
Boney Kapoor’s Role in Empowering His Family
Janhvi Kapoor said he was always full of praise and always appreciated her and generously appreciated her on the set of the film. He would advise Sridevi and his daughters that they should only do what will make them happy and boost their self confidence. Janhvi said, ‘He would always say things like, you are feeling good. You are feeling confident. Then wear what you want. I have always come from that upbringing and that lens. Where he was like, work if you want to. Wear what you want. Speak what you want. Don’t worry so much about me. Make your friends. Go on a trip.’ Boney, stands up for Janhvi and her sister.
