Kesha’s Journey to Independence

Kesha, a renowned musician, is feeling a sense of liberation after the release of “Joyride.” This single marks her first project as an independent artist following her departure from Dr. Luke’s Kemosabe Records and RCA. Speaking to Forbes, Ksha revealed, “I feel free for the first time since I was 18 years old.” She expressed gratitude to her fans for their unwavering support and acknowledged the emotional and financial toll of nearly a decade of litigation.

The Legal Battle with Dr. Luke

Kesh’s legal battle with Dr. Luke, born Lukasz Sebastian Gottwald, began in 2014 when she filed a lawsuit against him in California. The allegations included sexual assault, harassment, and emotional abuse spanning over a decade. Dr. Luke, a notable figure in the music industry and founder of Kemosabe Records, denied these claims and countersued Ke Sha for defamation. The case dragged on for almost ten years before reaching an out-of-court settlement. Throughout this period, Kesha received widespread support from fans, followers, and fellow celebrities, rallying under the hashtag #FreeKesha.

The Release of “Joyride”

“Joyride” was released under Ksha’s own label, Ksha Records, symbolizing her artistic and personal freedom. Kesh hopes her label will provide a safe space for artists, stating, “Creation and fear cannot co-exist. When you’re in a state of fear, you cannot create, and I know this from personal experience.”

Future Aspirations and Goals

In addition to releasing new music, Kesha has set her sights on broader industry changes. She aims to reform the legal landscape surrounding the rights to artists’ recorded voices, which are often controlled by record labels “in perpetuity in the universe.” Kesha is actively seeking partners who share her vision for a more transparent and artist-friendly music industry. She aspires to collaborate with innovative tech creators to revolutionize the business and foster a new level of transparency.
